Ever since The Pretenders dropped their ninth studio album, Break Up the Concrete, eight years ago, devoted fans have spent each year since praying for a follow-up. Now, the "I'll Stand By You" iconic band have not only announced a new studio album, Alone, but they have also dropped a new music video and announced five headlining shows in the US (which they'll play in addition to their upcoming tour dates with Stevie Nicks). This day cannot get any better.
Alone is set to hit shelves on October 21, and will be available on CD, LP, and digitally. Lucky for us, it will feature the inimitable lyrics that they've become known for, as well as their infamous guitar riffs and arrangements played by the full band on all 12 songs. The part that has us the most excited, however? The record was produced by Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys, who worked alongside lead singer, Chrissie Hynde on the entire project.
In case the group hasn't spoiled us enough, the new music video for, “Holy Commotion”, off their newest album was also released today. The video is set in producer Dan Auerbach's studio and features Chrissie Hynde creating new music—visibly enjoying the process.
The Pretenders are scheduled to hit the road with Stevie Nicks for their North American Tour stopping in 34 cities starting on October 25 in Phoenix, AZ and ending December 18 in Inglewood, CA. In addition to these performances, they have revealed the five cities where they'll be headlining their very own shows: October 31 in Austin, TX; November 13 in Durham, NC; November 17 in Burbank; NJ, November 26 in Akron, OH; and December 12 in Portland, OR.
Tickets for The Pretenders headlining shows go on sale this Friday, September 30, and you can get them here.
