Alicia Keys threw a concert in Times Square last night, and it was full of surprises to say the least. The concert, which was free to Tidal subscribers, was thrown in anticipation of Keys’ new album, Here, out November 4. She spent a good chunk of Saturday afternoon tweeting rehearsal videos leading up to the big show, leaving us stalking her feed for the majority of the day.
But on Sunday night when the “Girl on Fire” star brought out Jay Z to sing “Empire State of Mind”, a hit from his 2009 album The Blueprint 3, with her in Times Square, we knew the wait was so worth it.
And she didn’t stop there. Fans in attendance tweeted about the star-studded lineup, which included appearances by Q-Tip, Questlove, John Mayer, and Nas. It seemed like an incredible night, and only made us that much more excited for new music from the "In Common" songbird.
