Hailing from New England, forming in Santa Cruz, and recording in Nashville, The Devil Makes Three represent their own melting pot. The alt-country trio use this to their advantage, blending a handful of genres and styles to pinpoint the crossroads where blues, country, ragtime, and jazz flawlessly coexist.
This was the reason we jumped at seeing the band—made up of guitarist, Pete Bernhard, upright bassist, Lucia Turino, and guitarist/tenor banjo player, Cooper McBean—when they brought their show to Austin, TX this past weekend. Opening with a track off their fourth (and most recent) studio album, Redemption & Ruin, the trio got the crowd amped for a night filled to the brim with covers and original songs.
