As much as we love a good stadium concert or jam-packed festival, there’s something really special about a show at an intimate venue. That’s where the magic can happen—when you and a group of die-hard fans gather around a stage and really connect with the band. That’s why the popular DC9 Nightclub in Washington DC was the perfect place for Great Good Fine Ok’s concert on January 30. One of the coolest things about this local hot spot? The main stage is barely a foot off the ground, so the audience gets to be super close to the action. This also meant that both bands performing that night had to walk through the crowd to get to their instruments—talk about the ultimate meet-and-greet!
Flor, an alternative quartet from Los Angeles, started things off with dreamy tracks like “Guarded” and “Back Again”. They were super energetic and the perfect vibe to open the show.
When GGFO finally walked onto the stage, they threw glow sticks into the crowd, creating the most lit scene in every sense of the word. During their song, “By My Side”, the Brooklyn natives also showered fans with balloons that read “Party Time”, before moving into fan favorites like “Take It or Leave It” and “You’re The One For Me”. Just when we thought their set was over, the sythpop duo came back out for an encore for the books, ending on a high note with "Thinking" and "Not Going Home".
