El Ten Eleven’s post-rock instrumentals already pack an emotional and visceral punch—but wait till you lay ears on their breathtaking vocal collaboration with Emile Mosseri. On the newly released Unusable Love, The Dig frontman lends his pipes to four El Ten Eleven tracks, adding moving, ethereal dimensions to a nocturnal set of songs.
To mark the launch of the record, the Los Angeles duo and Mosseri played a joint and intimate set at Rough Trade New York on August 15. El Ten Eleven opened with fan faves such as “My Only Swerving” and “Transitions”, before Mosseri stepped onstage to deliver soul-stirring renditions of their collaborative tracks including “Unusable Love”, “I’m Right Here”, and “She’s a Live One”. Members of opening band Pete International Airport also ably joined in on background vocals. The night ended on a poignant note: with a cover of The Cure’s “Lovesong” that warmed every heart in the venue.
