Singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt isn't afraid of change, and is proving to all of us why we shouldn't be either. Since emerging onto the scene 2011, she's undergone a total transformation, from her personal style to her approach to music to how she's handled her career. It's all led her to the independent artist she is today—one that isn't afraid to challenge herself, hone her craft, and find her voice.
Her confidence in her new music is contagious, too. The three tracks she's put out thus far off her forthcoming album ("The Moments I'm Missing", "The Best You Had", "Somebody Special"), have amassed the over 50 million streams on Spotify alone. The latter single, released earlier this year, is the Summer 2018 bop destined to be blaring at every rooftop party you attend in the coming months.
After recently hitting the road with Jake Bugg, the Scottish multi-instrumentalist is now on her headlining run, where she's performing new tunes for fans across the US. With five shows remaining (Washington DC, you're up next!), there's still time to nab tickets to see her live if you're on the east coast.
We caught up with Nesbitt to figure out what she's been jamming to in-between shows, which includes bangers from SZA, Sasha Sloan, MAX, and more. Check out her playlist below, then make sure to Track Nesbitt on Bandsintown to stay updated with all her touring news!
This is one of my favourite remixes of "Somebody Special". I’ve been a big fan of R3hab for a while, so I was excited when he sent me this. It gives the song new life I think.
I love the whole album by SZA and this is one of my favourite tracks on it. I love how the lyrics feel really free and effortless. She’s always got great concepts.
Sabrina released one of my favourite albums last year, About Time. This is my favourite track on the album, it makes me feel really elegant whenever I listen to it, (which I’m totally not). It’s such a beautiful, feminine record.
Loving the Lauv stuff that I’ve been hearing. Great pop songs with catchy hooks, and I’m a fan of his voice.
This is such a beautifully heartbreaking song. I had the pleasure of collaborating with this girl earlier this year and think she’s one of the best writers around.
An old one but a favourite of mine. I love everything about Banks, especially the lyrics and production in this song.
I’ve listened to The Weeknd since high school and he’s always kept me hooked with every release. This is my favourite track on the mini album. Can’t wait to see what he does next.
Big fan of Bibi. Love how vibey this track is. Her lyrics are fearless and raw.
A classic. One of my favourite old songs. The lyrics are like poetry, I’m fascinated by how she creates such a picture in my mind through her words. I love the falsetto in this too.
So happy for Max’s success this year. This is a banger and his energy on stage is amazing. Can’t wait to hear more.
