Indie rock darlings Tokyo Police Club have made a name for themselves over the past decade and a half, filling our playlists with unapologetically loud guitars and passionate lyrics that we all found ourvselves carving into our desks in the most angst-ridden of days. Over the years, the Ontarian band's sound has evolved and become more self-assured, without losing their original edge that defined alternative sound in the mid 2000s. After releasing two EPs in 2016 while collaborating long distance, in 2018 TPC released their first full length LP in four years––and we can’t get enough of it.
The self-titled TPC is filled with thoughtful jams that fully embrace their rock roots. The acoustic version of one of their newest tracks, “Outtatime,” strips back the instrumentals and backing vocals, letting the just guitars highlight the vulnerability and emotion of the lyrics. “Lay down your arms / You can't fight this war”.
Watch the new video for the track below, and prepare to fall in love with TPC all over again.
