Los Angeles music/art collective Beach Bums are no strangers to the eclectic, vibrant, live music scene their city has to offer. From playing house shows in their hometown to shooting music videos that pay homage to it, Beach Bums are proud to represent the West Coast. They weave its groovy vibe into their mix of hardcore punk, garage rock, lo-fi and rap to create a combination that is truly unique.
Deemed the “Wu-Tang of Los Angeles Punk,” by OC Weekly, this group wishes not to be labeled a ‘band’ but rather, a collective, as they continue to make waves for local and national listeners. Selling out merch and touring across California and Nevada, Beach Bums are gaining more traction in various music scenes across the states.
Bandsintown is so excited to be premiering the video for “Spell”, the group’s latest single. “Cast a spell on me so I can feel alright,” sings Jonathan Horsley, who performs under the moniker, Jawntang as the group’s lead vocalist. The video for the track was shot with both vintage VHS and current digital video techniques to convey themes of nostalgia, remembrance, and sentimentality.
Lead rapper, Keanu Harvin, who performs under the name Kunu, joins Jawntang in the innovative video directed by Zach Rabago. It also stars the popular Instagram couple Sheylin Morales and Saul C.
Colorful visual elements of the video effortlessly coincide with the experimentally woozy, and undoubtedly distinctive sound of Beach Bums. Watch below and catch them on their Cali tour!
