SummerStage just announced it’s 2019 lineup, and we couldn’t be more stoked. With over 200 acts playing across all 5 boroughs, the summer is going to be packed with live music shows–– and did we mention it’s free? The festival is also reopening its Central Park stage, updated with new speakers, more seating, and better lighting technology to bring fans the greatest outdoor shows possible.
The festival is kicking off on June 1st with a Central Park set from NYC native and Grammy nominee Emily King, whose incredible R&B will perfectly set the tone for warm nights with friends in the park. Other acts to grace the revamped stage will be indie favorites like MARINA, the Growlers, Japanese Breakfast, Alvvays, and Bloc Party. Closing the festival on September 24th is new wave legends the B-52s, who will be bringing their unparalleled fun art pop to Manhattan.
Artists performing outside of the main Central Park venue include rapper Young M.A, putting on a show in her native Brooklyn, and folk band The Mountain Goats, performing waterfront at East River Park. Dance performances will also feature throughout the festival, including a performance Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. The lineup also includes the 3-day Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, Marcus Garvey and Tompkins Square Park.
Be sure to check out the full list of venues and artists, and get ready to groove all summer during the SummerStage series.
