It’s been two years since Stef Chura released Messes, the debut LP that put the Detroit-based indie rocker on the map. With simple guitars and a voice that Pitchfork once called “magnetic,” it was easy to fall for her music.
On July 28, Chura took to the stage at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco in support of her latest album, Midnight. Joined by French Vanilla and Nanami Ozone, fans were treated to live renditions of tracks like “All I Do Is Lie” and “Method Man,” the lead single off the LP.
Taking place late Sunday night, the crowd surely forgot about work the next morning thanks to the energy brought by Chura and her band. Between their animated performances and consistent banter with fans, Chura’s set was pure excitement from beginning to end. With nearly 10 dates remaining on her summer tour, there's still a chance to catch Chura in cities including Salt Lake City and Denver before she finishes up in Milwaukee on August 10.
