It's been nearly three years since the summer tour that paired Primus with Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, but borne out of it was an experience that would change them forever. Straight after the tour, Les Claypool (of Primus) and Sean Lennon (of Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger) were inspired to combine their talents for a joint endeavor, The Claypool Lennon Delirium.
This year, the duo has just released their sophomore record, which is every bit as exhilarating live as it is in the studio. Joined by NYC-based psych-rock band Uni—yet another hybrid band that includes David Strange, Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger’s guitarist Charlotte Kemp Muhl, and singer Jack James—Austin fans were treated to live renditions of much-adored tracks like “Cricket and The Genie” and “Blood and Rockets," the lead single off their latest, 'South of Reality'. It was a Monday night, but no one seemed to care as the two bands met high hopes with a mixed bag of classic rock influences and more modern progressive rock. Between Uni's glitzy psychedelia and Claypool Lennon's distinctive guitar layering, it was an energetic night to remember.
