Taking a break from performing and recording with grammy-winning band, Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard has embarked on solo tour in support of her new music. Her unique vocals and signature charm shines through on her debut LP, Jaime, which is filled with soulful choruses, funky beats, and synth-rock production. The Athens native has said that the album is a tribute to her late sister, who was also the person who first taught her to write a song.
Jaime touches on a range of hard-hitting subjects, including everything from songs of love, race, and religion. Opening the album with a booming drum solo, she quickly introduces listeners to her ‘70s influenced world, which is apparent on tracks like “History Repeats”, “Goat Head”, and “Tomorrow”. One spin and you’ll be in your feels, experiencing a range of emotions that only Ms. Howard could initiate.
Her one-woman show is on tour now, and we could high advise checking this run out for yourself. Check out the photos below from her stop in Philly at The Fillmore below (we swear you can almost hear her powerful vocals projecting in the photos).
