Armed with only a sandwich, a croissant, and a kitchen, Odeya Rush and Harry Nathan made magic happen. The music video depicts a rather unconventional love story between the two aforementioned grocery items (spoiler: it ends with baby croissants). The self-professed super low budget video is the perfect backdrop for Nathan's new song “Alright” to flourish, showcasing his hazy vocals and funky guitar riffs.
Of the video, Nathan said, “We made it in my kitchen with our best mates, it was trickier than we thought and we had to learn a lot on the fly. Odeya was directing and shooting, with the rest of us choreographing disco balls and lasers; whilst working a marionette."
Not surprisingly, this isn't the first time Odeya and Harry Nathan have worked together. Together they've won 24 independent short film awards for their projects "Fool For Your Love" and "Rooftops”. As for their solo work? Rush has been busy acting in films like Dumplin’ (2018) and the Oscar-nominated, Lady Bird (2017). As for Nathan, he's hit the ground running with his music career, introducing the world to his dream pop goodness through his debut EP, Songs About Dreams About Her.
With the release of the music video (which was directed and shot by Odeya), we asked them to both to send over some of the songs they're listening to right now. Check it out below, and be sure to track Nathan on Bandsintown!
Solange ft Lil Wayne - Mad
It was really hard to narrow down this list but I knew I had to do something off this album. I mean it's fucking Solange... She's real and delicate and powerful all at the same time.
A-WA - Habib Galbi
This is what I call an Israeli banger. If you don't know A-WA, you really should.
Kid Cudi - Rose Golden
This song makes me feel so warm inside. Need more Kid Cudi and Willow in my life!!
Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good
Amy is forever my queen...This was probably the first song I knew all the words to cause my mom used to put this CD on as she drove us to school.
Pitbull - Hotel Room Service
You know, I get hate for being a Pitbull fan but I'm sorry, this shit slaps. I think I became a woman the night I grinded to this song in 6th grade at a Bat Mitzva... I haven't been the same since.
Daft Punk - Within
Cos Daft Punk are the greatest.
Everything But The Girl - Tracey In My Room (Lazy Dog Bootleg)
One of my favorite tracks. I remember going to my first festival, Good Vibrations in Sydney, Ben Watt's set mesmerized me. I was totally lost in the music, albeit super sober. I had randoms offering me water thinking I was fried on disco biscuits.
Delegation - Oh Honey
I’ve always loved funk and soul. This track gives me warm fuzzies.
William DeVaughn - Be Thankful For What You Got
Cos vibe.
Carla Bruni - Quelqu’un m’a dit
Carla Bruni is amazing. We were just in Paris and her music followed us everywhere.
