High Waisted’s Jessica Louise Dye (vox/guitar) and Jono Bernstein (drums) are giving us the positive vibes that we need in these seemingly dreary times. Despite SXSW cancellations and tour delays, the NYC-based duo is determined to make the best of things with their upbeat tunes and commitment to their work.
Their new album, dropping on May 22, is already something to keep an eye out for, as evidenced by their first single “Boys Can’t Dance”. The lyrics speak directly to the mentality we’re trying to keep alive in the midst of all the chaos, “I shouldn’t try to stop myself from what I wanna do to let my hair hang down / And I wouldn't mind if you were around to share in the fun as we go out.”
The fun doesn’t stop with their lyrics either, continuing with their pop punk/beachy instrumentals. Don't mind us, we'll just be laying out a beach towel in our living room, playing seagull sounds, and listening to this on repeat.
Craving more from High Waisted? We are excited to share their newest track “Drive”, which will appear on the upcoming album, Sick of Saying Sorry. “‘Drive’ is about sacrificing your own happiness for the well being of others and carrying that burden without complaint,” comments Jess.
Check out our exclusive first listen of “Drive” below, then make sure to catch Jess and Jono at their record release show on Saturday, May 23 at Bowery Ballroom!
