Wolf Alice’s music makes you feel like you’re in a coming-of-age movie. They sing of growing up, falling in love, and navigating through the ups and downs of life. Point blank: you cannot help but be nostalgic when you listen to them. This weekend, they brought these wistful feelings to New York City, taking over Bowery Ballroom for two dreamy sold-out shows.
The British alternative-rock band kicked off their Saturday set with “Smile,” a track off their 2021 album Blue Weekend. The crowd was overjoyed to see them on stage again, singing along to every word of the punky anthem. Throughout the set, lead singer Ellie Roswell charmed fans with her vocal range, nailing everything from the gentle and folksy “Safe From Heartbreak” to the Le Tigre-reminiscent “Play The Greatest Hits.”
The most cathartic part of the night? The encore. The band took the stage for “Don’t Delete The Kisses,” their most popular song to date. As soon as the opening notes began, the audience was ready to scream every word of the magnetic love song. It is hard to imagine a better way to close the night.
Wolf Alice is one band you have got to see live. Their North American tour will conclude on November 20 in Atlanta, but their European leg kicks off in January. Check out our photos from their New York show below, and be sure to track them, as well as their opening act Bria, on Bandsintown to stay in the loop!
