Top 5 Live: Japanese Breakfast Wants To See These Bands In Concert

Trust us, they'll be your new favorites.

By Mack Caldwell - Jun 16, 2016
Michelle Zauner of Philly's Japanese Breakfast fills us on who which bands she wants to see live in concert this year. Trust us, they'll be your new favorites. Japanese Breakfast

Hailing from Philadelphia, a city that exhales music from its thudding basement shows, Japanese Breakfast, the solo project of Michelle Zauner, is alive, intricate, and as vibrant as the city itself. In her album Psychopomp, a colorful mesh of guitar riffs and excited youthful lyrics, Zauner propels the listener into swashing waves of exuberance. Zauner’s music almost translates perfectly into a white explosion of energy when played live, nailing her vocals perfectly but still with the raw and natural tone that is endearing of live music.

As blown away as we were by her performance ability, we wanted to know whose concerts she was attending this year! Check out her list below, then Track her on Bandsintown to see when she's coming to play a concert in your town.

Japanese Breakfast: Top Five Live

2. Vagabon (New York)

"I think Lætitia is in the process of working on a new album now. She is one of the nicest people I've ever met and such an incredible great performer!"

3. Fear of Men (Brighton)

"I love Fear of Men's new album Fall Forever and can't wait to see them live!"

4. Fits (New York)

"Fits is my friend Nicholas' solo project! We got to play with them recently at the Silent Barn and they were so great!"

5. Art School Jocks (Atlanta)

"Art School Jocks is the new four piece by my friends Deborah (Places to Hide) & Dianna (The Wild). Dianna does a lot of the artwork for Japanese Breakfasts' merch, she is one of my favorite visual artists of all time! I love her work so much! I really can't wait to see this new project live!!!"
