When any New Yorker hears the words "Governor's Ball," they know summer is around the corner. On June 1 on Randall's Island, the eighth-annual festivities kicked off in spectacular fashion, with performances from Pond, Maggie Rogers, Tash Sultana, Alvvays, and 6LACK setting the tone for the weekend to come. Later in the day, tens of thousands of music lovers flocked to catch Jack White's standout headlining set, which was chock full of jams from his latest LP, Boarding House Reach, as well as classics from The Dead Weather and The White Stripes ("Seven Nation Army," we're looking at you).

Saturday's lineup brought the heat as well, with sets from 2 Chainz, Cut Copy, Kelela, and Japandroids starting the second day off right. Our favorite show? Pusha T, who dusted off songs from his brand new, Kanye West-produced LP, Daytona, for the first time live. Hip-hop heads could be seen (and heard) in the crowd rapping along with every line, solidifying the impact it's already had on NYC stans in only a week's time. Everyone's favorite pop star, Haley hit the stage at 6:45, where she dazzled festival-goers before Travis Scott performed for a packed house. Highlights from La Flame's 24-song setlist included both Sheck Wes and SZA covers, tracks from his Quavo collab album, Huncho Jack, and his latest drop "Watch".

Day three was brimming with both throwbacks and emerging acts—a perfect combination of reunions and up-and-comers. N.E.R.D.? Check. Margo Price? Yes, please. Lil Uzi Vert? KILLED IT. The cap off the weekend, the one and only Slim Shady took to the main stage for a career-spanning headlining show, bringing longtime fans out in droves. After starting off the night with "Medicine Man", a Dr. Dre cover, he worked through hits like "The Way I Am", "Stan", "My Name Is", and "Without Me". 50 Cent joined for three tracks as well, including "In Da Club" and "I Get Money" which transported us back to two-thousands-and-yes.

We'll see you next year, GB!
