New York City-based singer, DJ and bassist Blu DeTiger shared her R&B, dance, and synth-pop filled tour bus playlist with us. Featuring “Señorita,” by Justin Timberlake, “Humility,” by Gorillaz and George Benson, “Never Too Much,” by Luther Vandross, and “Because it’s in the Music,” by Robyn, this playlist proves Blu DeTiger has a genre-defying music taste. From Gorillaz to Robyn, we’re digging every track.

Equipped with a custom, sparkly blue Fender bass and a brand new single, New York City’s Blu DeTiger is taking the nu-disco scene by storm. The bassist of thirteen years is currently on tour with electronic duo, The Knocks, who also produced her debut song (which was released last month), “In My Head”. With stops in LA, Houston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and more, you can catch her live through the end of February.

When Blu DeTiger is not on tour, you can find her DJing at a pop-up fashion event or at Brooklyn’s House of Yes. Oh, and did we mention that, in addition to her solo project, the rising star is also a touring member of Kitten?

Check out her smooth soul and dancey synth-pop tour bus playlist below—she’s got everything from Justin Timberlake to Luther Vandross!

Blu DeTiger’s Tour Bus Playlist

1. Patrice Rushen — 'Forget Me Nots'

“One of my favorite bass lines ever written. This song gets me dancing immediately.”

2. Justin Timberlake — 'Señorita'

“The male/female call and response parts on the outro of this song are so fun. We love shouting this and rocking out to it on the bus after a show."

3. The Darkness — 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love'

"Patt (from The Knocks) absolutely CRUSHED this song at a Karaoke spot in Portland. This song is so good that it’s hard for me to fathom how they came up with that pre-chorus and chorus melody.”

4. Lizzo — 'Juice'

“Lizzo is the coolest and this song is a FUNK JAMMER.”

5. Young & Sick — 'No Good'

“Young & Sick is on tour with us and his new song has been stuck in my head every day since the tour started.”

6. Jungle — 'Beat 54- Krystal Klear Edit'

“I love this funky smooth remix of “Beat 54” by Jungle. Definitely one of my favorite bands right now.”

7. Gorillaz — 'Humility (feat. George Benson)'

“Any collab with George Benson is genius.”

8. Mallrat — 'Uninvited'

“This drop gets me every time. I also love everything Mallrat does, she’s the coolest.”

9. MAI LAN — 'Pumper'

“I love MAI LAN’s vocal style. It’s the perfect combination of sung and spoken— I definitely look to her for inspiration for my own music.”

10. Luther Vandross — 'Never Too Much'

“One of my favorite songs of all time. This groove is undeniable.”

11. Robyn — 'Because It's In The Music'

“Robyn’s album ‘Honey’ is the best album of last year, in my opinion. It was the only thing I listened to for a few weeks straight. Her vocal delivery and the production on every song is amazing. This song is my favorite at the moment.”

12. Amber Mark — 'Lose My Cool - Frank Moody Remix'

“I love the groove on this song. I’m a sucker for any disco-esque octave bass line.”

13. The Tribe of Good — 'Heroes - Edit'

“A cool, groovy cover of Bowie’s “Heroes.””

14. The Presets — 'Downtown Shutdown'

“PUMP UP DANCE JAM. This gets me going before we go on stage.”

15. Blu DeTiger — 'In My Head'

“My song :)”
